Normal operation of the Microsoft Activation Server (KMS) is restored with immediate effect

In October, Windows LTSC activation was restricted due to a licensing error on Microsoft's part. TU Wien has since introduced a workaround (see news from November 19, 2021). Microsoft has now rolled out a solution to the problem with the March updates. However, this included major updates to the activation server and a reset of the activation data, so that there have been restrictions of the Microsoft activation server in the last few days.

The upgrade process is now complete and the Microsoft Activation Service is fully available again. The previously available workaround will be operated until the end of May 2022 and then switched off. Therefore, changes to the administrative script for the workaround must be reversed by then or the activation script must be upgraded to at least 2.0.4.0.
