The service "Email for students" will be renewed. The service - currently offered at mail.student.tuwien.ac.at - will be migrated to "Microsoft 365" in the summer term of 2023 as part of the "Exchange Online for Students" project.

Once the migration is complete, students will have access to a 100 GB mailbox and a number of associated functions. Previous email addresses remain valid and can be managed via TISS as before. Access is via outlook.office.com and via email clients with user name eMatrikelnummer@student.tuwien.ac.at and the network password.

For increased security, multi-factor authentication (MFA), opens an external URL in a new window is required and must be set up when the account is first accessed. The additional security factor is only requested outside of TUnet and remains valid for 14 days.

The migration of all mailboxes will take place gradually over the summer term 2023. Students will be informed about the beginning and end of the transfer of their mailbox by email. Until the migration of the own mailbox is completed, the previous mailbox on mail.student.tuwien.ac.at remains active.

A data protection impact assessment (DPIA) was completed together with the Department of Data Protection and Document Management of the TU Wien and the change of the service has been commissioned by the Rectorate of the TU Wien.
