Maintenance TUnet Backbone in Building EA / Argentinierstrasse

The backbone routers for the building Argentinierstrasse 8 will be replaced in the course of regular lifecycle management in a near future. This will take place in a maintenance window on Thursday, September 14, 2023 between 9:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. During this time, an interruption of all TUnet services in that building (EA) for up to 10 minutes will occur.

Update 1:50 pm: The maintenance has been completed successfully at 11:15 am.

The TUnet campus enterprise network infrastructure is being continually adapted to the needs of TU Wien. This replacement creates a modern 100 gigabit Ethernet infrastructure for the aforementioned building, so as to be fit for future requirements uncovered by the advancing digitalization efforts.

The location affected is Argentinierstraße (EA). The replacement shall take place in the maintenance window mentioned above. During this time, for a duration of up to 10 minutes, TUnet services such as wired network access for PCs and servers, Wi-Fi services, and TUphone (VoIP telephony) will be unavailable. This is also true for GuT access control systems and cameras. Communication between PCs and the server housing locations will be limited as well. TU.it datacenter services are not affected.

We aim at keeping the interruptions as short as possible and are grateful for your patience and understanding.

Upon completion of the replacement, the campus Argentinierstraße will be connected to the TUnet core in a high-availability setting of 4x100 Gigabit Ethernet uplinks, meeting performance requirements and TUnet access port capacity as will be needed in the future.

No change on any end system is required. If you suspect an issue after the completion of maintenance, please check the network settings of your system or contact the IT coordinator of your organizational unit first. Please also check for any relevant information on the TU.it homepage. If the problem persists, send an email to help@it.tuwien.ac.at or contact us under 58801-42002.
