On Friday, November 15, 2024 from 10:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. software upgrades will be carried out in the backbone network of TU Wien

Due to a software problem, it has become necessary to restart some of the switch routers in TU Wien's backbone network. At the same time, an updated software version will also be put into operation to ensure future support from the manufacturer.

The following areas are affected:

  •     Karlsplatz (A, EB, EC, FA, FB, HK)
  •     Freihaus (DA, DB, DC, DD, GE, PF, XK)
  •     Data center
  •     Core switch router 1 (core switch router 2 should take over all tasks)

The switch routers in the individual areas are updated one after the other. The upgrade will take around 30 to 45 minutes per area; the respective services will be unavailable for 15 to 30 minutes. The outages affect the wired TUnet, TUwlan, telephones, cameras and access systems.

The data center area includes the central services of TU Wien, which will also be unavailable for 15 to 30 minutes:

  • TISS
  • TUWEL
  • ACEnet
  • upTUdate
  • LectureTube
  • TUownCloud
  • TU-Homepage
  • centrally hosted institute homepages
  • TUhost
  • TUsoftware
  • TUchat
  • further central services

If you have any questions or problems with your work, please contact the TUnet release officer at your institute or help@it.tuwien.ac.at. Thank you for your patience!
