BW-Connect(tm) NFS Client/Server for Windows NT
===============================================

Diese Campus-Software kann aus lizenrechtlichen Gründen nur den Instituten
der TU Wien und nicht deren Studenten zur Verfügung gestellt werden.

Beame & Whiteside Software has developed innovative standards-based
connectivity software since 1987. For users of Microsoft's Windows NT and
NTAS systems, we offer BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT, the first 32-bit
multi-threaded kernel implementation of an NFS (Network File System) Client
for Windows NT. All BW-Connect NFS functions use Microsoft's TCP/IP stack
for Windows NT which is an integral part of, and is shipped with, the
Windows NT system.

BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT allows Windows NT users to access file and
print resources of other network attached machines such as UNIX-based
systems, Macintosh computers, OpenVMS machines, or any other system that
supports NFS. It is seamlessly integrated with the Windows NT File and
Print Managers, or can be run from the Windows NT command line.

BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT can be run on any machine that supports
Windows NT including Intel 80x86, Pentium, MIPS, and DEC Alpha AXP
platforms.

In addition to the NFS Client module, BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT
provides several TCP/IP client server applications. Programs are included
to perform network functions such as a graphical FTP (File Transfer
Protocol) application for drag and drop file transfer, TFTP (Trivial File
Transfer Protocol), FINGER (network user information), WHOIS (network name
lookup), NSLOOKUP (for name server queries), TALK (a chat function), and
PING (for network testing).

BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT includes BW220, a terminal emulator
supporting VT200, VT100, VT52, and TN3270 that supports up to 64 different
TELNET sessions. It also supports keyboard mapping for each session, as
well as Kermit and Xmodem file transfers. BW-Connect NFS also includes
BWMAILW, a graphical electronic mail program which supports SMTP and POP2/3
mail systems. BW-Connect NFS for Windows NT includes the first INET daemon
(INETD) for Windows NT. Patterned after the UNIX INETD, Beame & Whiteside's
INETD provides peer-to-peer functions among connected machines (LAN or WAN)
by implementing server functions for TCP/IP-based applications. INETD is
installed as a Windows NT service and remains active in the background,
waiting for connection requests from remote clients. When INETD receives a
service request, it automatically starts the appropriate server daemon,
whether it is TELNETD, FTPD, TNAMED, TIMED, TALKD, nTALKD, or a
user-supplied service. Server daemons are started and stopped on a demand
basis so resource utilization is minimized. TELNETD is a server which
allows multiple TELNET connections to be made with the Windows NT server
from other network machines. Each TELNET connection is given a Windows NT
command line session after the username/password is authenticated using the
native Windows NT security system. TELNET uses the highest level of file
access security available to the NT file system being used. TELNETD assumes
that the remote side is at least a VT100 terminal, although a VT220
emulator with full ANSI color support is recommended.

  • Multi-threaded architecture supports up to 8 threads
each handling simultaneous independent transfer of data.

  • Prints directly to the Windows NT Print Manager.

  • Supports Symmetric Multi-Processor (SMP) hardware platforms.

  • Completely new code for Windows NT,
not a port of existing DOS/Windows code.

    BW-Multiconnect for Windows NT
    ==============================

BW-MultiConnect for Windows NT is a high performance file server
that allows Novell NetWare client workstations to access
Windows NT file and print resources.

The BW-MultiConnect NT machine looks like a native
NetWare file server to NetWare client workstations, no changes or
additional software is required on the client.

BW-MultiConnect adds an IPX/SPX protocol stack to Windows NT and
allows NetWare users to take advatage of Windows NT-supported files,
printers, and services just as though those resources were attached to a
native NetWare server. BW-MultiConnect can also function when no
NetWare server is present, providing independently developed NetWare
utilities such as LOGIN, LOGOUT, SLIST, MAP, and ATTACH, for NetWare clients.
