Service description

TUnet refers to the comprehensive communication infrastructure at TU Wien. This campus network uses both wired and wireless technologies.

As part of the TUwired service, Campus IT provides the wired network infrastructure across the campus - based on Ethernet technology - for comprehensive network access.

Users can connect their registered client and server systems as well as firewalls in all buildings of the TU Wien to the TUnet at provided and activated connection sockets in office and system rooms.

Allows efficient communication, cooperation, data exchange and automation in all TU Wien buildings.

A powerful and readily available TU Wien network for connecting network-enabled devices (IPv4 and IPv6).

The wired network is principally available in all buildings of the Vienna University of Technology.

TUnet approved people, authorised by the management of a structural element, may request for this structural element, the allocation of network resources (e.g., subnets, VLANs) and changes to the network (switching on and shut-down, establishment of additional boxes) through the ticketing system.

In return, TUnet approved people are required to document the devices of their structural element connected to the TUnet in the TUnet database and to keep this documentation up-to-date.
