TUcard

Service description

The TUcard is a multifunctional card that is issued by the Vienna University of Technology to both students and employees. TUcards are ordered, administered, blocked and printed via TISS.

The validity printed on the back of the TUcard can be extended by inserting the card into a TRW (ThermoReWrite) printer. TUcard kiosks are available for this purpose in several TU Vienna buildings (https://www.tuwien.at/fileadmin/TUit/BILDERPOOL/Allgemeine_Seiten/ServiceCenter/Lageplan_TUcard_Kioske_A4_05_02_2019.pdf, opens an external URL in a new window).

TUcards for students are valid for one semester. They must be extended every semester after valid registration at one of the TUcard kiosks.

TUcards for TU staff are valid until the end of the employment relationship, but for a maximum of 1 year. If you have a valid employment contract, you can extend your card for a further year at one of the TUcard kiosks.

Please insert the card as indicated on the kiosk. After extending your card, check whether the validity of the card has been adjusted. Only activated cards can be extended.

TUcard Reader Apps

With the TUcard Reader App you can electronically read the name and matriculation number of students' TUcards and save them as a CSV file using NFC Chip. The app is intended to facilitate the registration of students attending exams or courses.

The TUcard not only serves as an ID card, but also enables the installation of various applications, which allows access to many different university services and facilities.
