Service description

Our service helps you to dispose of data carriers and media up to a maximum size of 10 x 14.5 x 3.4 cm. The magnetic coating of hard disks and tapes is magnetically erased at a high field strength in a degausser. Mechanical destruction then follows. SSDs, CDs, TUcards, USB sticks and mobile devices without batteries are chopped up by a special device.

This means that your sensitive data cannot leave the building unchecked.

We destroy the following devices (without an installation frame):

  • hard disks (3.5" and 2.5", with a maximum height of 3.4 cm)
  • SSDs
  • CDs
  • TUcards
  • USB sticks and mobile devices without batteries up to a width of 14.5cm
  • DLT (Digital Linear Tape) and DAT (Digital Audio Tape) tapes

You can bring your media to the Service Center, where you will find barcode stickers ready to attach to them, which will be recorded in a database by the hand-held scanner provided. By recording the devices you confirm that you are authorised to destroy the corresponding media and that you will remove them from the inventory yourself, if necessary. You will be sent an email with a list of the devices that have been handed over.

To register, you only need your TU username (short name or generic email address (if necessary without the @ part) and your TU account password.
