TU.it provides members of TU Wien with a combination of a powerful network and target group-related network services. This provides incentives and opportunities for scientific and innovative communication, cooperation and further development at a national and international level.

TUnet is the campus network of TU Wien, and comprises various structural elements that together make up the extensive communication infrastructure. The important elements are:

• The backbone (in and between buildings and the core)
• The access area including the institute server rooms
• Efficient provision for both TU.it data centre locations
• A wireless LAN infrastructure
• The connection of TU Wien to national and international networks

TUnet is based on the latest Ethernet standards with transmission speeds of up to 100 gigabits
